Southern Cross Publishing Group Pty Ltd trading as Flinders Press (ABN 65 702 646 777) ("we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- Contact details you give us, such as your name, email address and phone number.
- Information about your book, including your manuscript and any notes you send.
- Records of our emails and calls with you.
- Payment and billing details when you become a client. Card payments are handled by a secure payment provider, and we do not store card numbers.
- Website usage data, such as pages visited and the type of device used, collected as described under "Cookies and analytics".
How we collect it
Mostly directly from you: through our enquiry form, by email, by phone or in meetings. We do not buy personal information from third parties.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and review your manuscript.
- To provide editing, design, publishing and marketing services you have engaged us for.
- To send invoices and keep business records required by law.
- To improve our website and services.
- To send occasional updates, only if you have agreed. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Your manuscript
Your manuscript stays yours. We use it only to assess and work on your book. We do not share it outside the people working on your project, and we do not use it to train software or AI tools.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only where needed to deliver our services, for example with:
- freelance editors, designers or illustrators working on your book, who are bound by confidentiality;
- printers and distributors such as Amazon KDP and IngramSpark, when we publish your book;
- service providers that run our website, email, form delivery and analytics.
Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. We will not sell your personal information.
Cookies and analytics
Our website does not use analytics or advertising cookies.
Video testimonials are hosted on YouTube. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. After that, YouTube's own privacy policy applies.
How we keep it safe
We store information in secure, password-protected systems and limit access to people who need it. We delete or de-identify personal information when we no longer need it for business or legal reasons.
Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing info@flinderspress.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, please email us first and we will try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
